City of Richardson Recycling

Curbside Program
 

Each household in Richardson is provided with recycling collection service one day each week. This collection will occur on one of the same days designated for regular trash collection. Recycling collection days are also designated by each home’s location. Please call (972) 744-4407 if you are unsure of your recycle day.

Although it is called a "curbside recycling program", recycling collection points for each home are the same as the regular trash collection points, which is usually in the alleys.

    Multi-Family Program
     

    The City of Richardson has a drop-off recycling center which is available to residents twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. This center provides a place for all residents to recycle, whether or not they live in an area serviced by the Blue Bag "curbside" program.

    Hazardous Disposal Program
      Household hazardous waste can be dropped off at the Home Chemical Collection Center loacted at 11234 Plano Rd. in Dallas. The Center is located 2 miles South of Richardson city limits. The Center's hours of operation vary, so call (214) 553-1765 to confirm the business hours. Computer monitors will now be accepted along with other hazardous waste. Please bring your driver's license and utility bill to prove residency. More detailed information can be obtained on the City of Richardson website.

     

    Yard Trimmings Program
      If you are interested in having your small twigs, grass clippings, and/or leaves composted, you may bag these items in biodegradable yard waste bags and place them in the front of the parkway and request a special collection by calling (972) 744-4111. These bags can be purchased at most home improvement stores.

     

    Composting Information
      All brush and yard clippings collected in the City of Richardson are recycled at the Texas Pure facility in Plano. Compost and mulch can be purchased at this site. The address of the Texas Pure facility is 9901 Custer Rd. Plano, TX. They can be reached at (972) 769-4150.

     

    Electronics Recycling
      The City of Richardson and Retire PC have partnered up to offer residents of Richardson a way to recycle their old computer and electronics equipment. Effective July 1, 2009, computer monitors are $0.50 per pound. All hard drives are wiped clean; however, if residents choose to have their hard drives destroyed, a $5 charge will apply. This service is otherwise free of charge. Retire PC is located at 1355 N. Glenville between Arapaho Rd. and Collins Blvd. They can be reached at (972) 231-6600 for any questions and items that they accept. They are open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
