City of Coppell Recycling

Curbside Program
 

Once a week pick up on designated recycling collection day. Plastic, glass, metals, and paper can be mixed in the Waste Management recycle bin. Yard Trimmings Recycling must be in a paper kraft yard bag or loose in an open container. Please place at the end of your driveway by 7am. NO TRASH with recycling.

What can I recycle?

Recycle Plastic

YES...
Plastics #1-#7. All household plastic bottles can be recycled if the neck is smaller than the bottom of the bottle. Remove caps and discard.

NO…
plastic bags, toys, motor oil or other household hazardous waste containers, Styrofoam/Polystyrene containers (egg cartons, foam cups, meat trays).

Recycle Glass

YES...
Glass Jars and bottles.

NO...Light bulbs, sheets of glass, mirrors.

Recycle Paper

YES…
Newspaper, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, office paper.

NO…
Paper that has touched food or is wet.

Recycle Aluminum and Steel Cans

YES…
Soda Cans, Juice Cans, Canned Food Steel Cans, Aerosol Cans.

NO…Aluminum Foil, Jar Lids

Recycling Basics:

  • Use the bin provided for glass, plastic, paper and metal. Crush plastic and cans to fit in bin.
  • Co-mingle recyclables. Empty glass, plastic, aluminum & tin containers mixed together in bin.
  • Place paper in paper sack on top of bin. Paper must be dry so if rainy place out next recycle day.
  • Place bin at end of drive by 7am. Recycling is picked up once a week on the designated day.
  • Yard Trimmings, like grass, leaves, and spent plants can be recycled by placing them in an open container or in a paper kraft bag and placed with your recyclables. Brush/Tree Trimmings can be recycled by bundling in 5 ft. lengths, less than 50 pound and tied with cotton or jute string.

Multi-Family Program
 

Contact your multifamily management about the facilities recycling program. Paper drop-offs are at all the school campuses in Coppell (cardboard, paperboard and phone books are no longer accepted).

 

Hazardous Disposal Program
  Please contact the City of Coppell Environmental Health Office at 972-462-5177 for disposal information.

 

Yard Trimmings Program
  Yard Trimmings can be recycled as part of the Residential Recycling service through Waste Management. All yard trimmings that are prepared correctly and placed out on the designated recycling day are hauled to Living Earth Technologies, where they are a valuable resource for mulch and compost. Grass and leaves must be in a paper kraft yard bag or in an open container to be recycle. If mixed with trash or in plastic bags they will be picked up as trash. Holiday trees without any decorations or bags will also be recycled.

 

Composting Information
  The city of Coppell offers composting education through Community Organics Recycling Education (CORE). CORE offers a fall Master Composting Seminar and Texas SmartScape classes throughout the year.

 

Electronics Recycling
  Computer and computer related equipment, cellphones, and printer cartridges and TV's collected 3 times a year. Next e-cycling event: Saturday, April 24th 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. TVs: $12, monitors: $5 for LCD, $7 for CRT (CASH ONLY), other items can be dropped off for free. LOCATION: Town Center Elementary School parking lot (185 N. Heartz).

 

Recycling at School
  Each CISD campus has a yellow and green Abitibi paper recycling bin for paper recycling. The public may drop off paper to be recycled at any bin (cardboard and phone books ARE NOT accepted).
