Curbside Program

Household recyclables are collected once a week in recycling bins provided for residents at City Hall, 1200 E. Broad Street. Residents are provided 2 bins upon creating a new utility account. If you have more recyclables than will fit in the 2 bins, place them in a bag or box next to the bins. Bins should be placed at the curb by 7:00 am on the day of pickup.

The following items can placed in the bins:

Accepted Materials
Glass containers, Aluminum cans, Tin cans, Steel cans, Telephone books / paperback books, Paperboard / chipboard, Mixed paper, Paper grocery bags, Newspaper, magazines, catalogs, Corrugated cardboard, #1 Plastic, #2 Plastic, #3 Plastic, #4 Plastic, #5 Plastic, #7 Plastic (other), Milk cartons and juice boxes,

Multi-Family Program

The City is currently in the process of reviewing alternatives for providing recycling services to residents living in multifamily housing communities in the City.

Hazardous Disposal Program
Household hazardous wastes such as pesticides, solvents, paints, stains, batteries, fuels, oil, and similar items should not be disposed off with regular garbage or recyclables. These materials are dangerous, and should not be released into the environment in an uncontrolled manner. For more information on how to properly dispose of these materials, please call 817-276-4240.

The Keep Mansfield Beautiful Commission oversees the Household Hazardous Waste program. Currently, residents are able to take HHW items accepted by the Environmental Collection Center in Fort Worth to that facility at 6400 Bridge Street, Fort Worth, 76112. Please call (817) 871-5257 to verify items are accepted and hours of operation.

The KMBC also coordinates two dropoff events held at City Hall. These dropoffs are usually held sometime in late spring and late fall. Residents are able to bring the same materials to these dropoffs, plus the City also offers paper shredding, and computer disposal. For more information on this program, please contact Howard Redfearn at 817-276-4240 or howard.redfearn@ci.mansfield.tx.us.

Yard Trimmings Program
The City encourages residents to dispose of grass clippings and leaves on their own yards. Grass clippings decompose into compost fairly quickly, and their nutrients are then released back into the yard, and not disposed of in a landfill. This helps keep costs down, improves the overall health of the lawn, reduces pest damage, and even helps lawn retain water. Leaves can be mowed over to help reduce the time to decomposition, and help introduce valuable organic matter to soils.

Limbs, branches, etc... should be cut into sections less than 4 feet long, or able to be handled by one person and placed at the curb in bundles.

Composting Information
The City encourages residents to compost vegetable scraps. This reduces the amount of waste entering the landfill, and helps prolong the amount of time a landfill can be used. It also helps reduce the costs for fertilizers since the composted material can used instead.

Electronics Recycling
Goodwill Industries Texas has partnered with Round 2 Technologies to accept electronics for recycling. The City encourages residents of Mansfield to take used electronics to the Goodwill location at 7531 S. Cooper St for drop off. in addition, the City will continue to accept electronics at its HHW events.

Recycling at School
The Mansfield Independent School District currently accepts paper and newspaper in the Abitibi Paper Retriever containers found on most campuses. Residents are encouraged to use this service, as some funds generated by the collected materials are returned to the school district.
