Be An Eco-Shopper:
In a joint effort to raise awareness
about buying recycled, the City of Irving, TXU Electric with
project funding provided by the North Central Texas Council
of Governments and the Texas Natural Resource Conservation
Commission created the Eco-Shopping Game. The game is designed
to teach users about being environmentally friendly shoppers.
The game includes exercises in package recycling; bulk/concentrate
packaging; and recycled content in packaging. The game is
set up as a mock grocery store. Players are equipped with
scanning devices and are asked to select the top 5 of 50 grocery
products which best demonstrate "green" packaging.
The Eco-Shopping Game is available for check-out by local
municipalities as well as local schools. To reserve the Eco-Shopping
Game for local functions call Fran Witte, with the City of
Irving at (972) 721-2355.
