Centralized Composting

A 1999 survey of landscape waste management practices in the region showed that 23 percent of Metroplex cities are composting solid waste. North Central Texas cities are recognizing the importance of diverting yard waste from the landfill as approximately 56 percent of area cities collect brush separately from other residential garbage. As indicated by the table below, the North Central Texas region has several established composting processing sites throughout the region. These facilities are a mixture of private and municipally owned operations.
